The Void at Downtown Disney District Permanently closed due to breach of license agreement; Potentially affected Disney Springs location

After temporarily closing with the rest of the Disneyland Resort in mid-March, The Void has now closed permanently after receiving a Notice of Event Noncompliance and Lease Termination from the Walt Disney World Operational Participants Department.

The notice, dated June 30, 2020, was recently posted on the doors of the location, just above the previous signage indicating the previous temporary closure. The notice cites a violation of the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures license.

No longer a tenant of the Downtown Disney District shopping and dining complex, The Void must stop using Disney IP, or intellectual property, through Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire and Ralph Breaks VR, plus any Disney promotional materials, brands registered, and confidential information.

With the recent ban on indoor entertainment across Orange County due to rising COVID-19 case rates in California, it is unlikely that The Void could have reopened with the rest of the Downtown Disney District, but now it seems which are the days of The immersive Virtual Reality experience is over.

It has not been confirmed how and if this violation will affect Disney Springs’ location for The Void. At this time, none of the locations list any experiences available on The Void website.
