The tie between the Pride Boy and the Trump White House was found, according to NYT reports

The New York Times reports that in the days leading up to the January 6 Capitol attack, a member of the Proud Boys was in contact with someone in former President Donald Trump’s White House.

An anonymous source familiar with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s cellphone data report told the Times that it was not clear what they were discussing and did not name anyone.

The FBI received the information as a result of information it received from technology and telecommunications companies shortly after the riots, when Trump supporters violated U.S. capital and clashed with law enforcement.

The riots killed five people, including a police officer.

The remarks came after former State Department aide Federico Klein was arrested Thursday in connection with the riots.

The FBI has accused Klein of assaulting police officers, interfering with police during a civil disorder and obstructing official proceedings, both politicians said.

Klein was appointed by Trump and worked on his 2016 presidential campaign in 2017 before becoming Special Assistant to the Bureau of the Western Hemisphere in the State Department.

The leader of the Proud Boy, Enrique Terio, told the Times after the news that he spoke on the phone with Roger Stone, a close aide to Trump, at a rally in front of Senator Marco Rubio’s home a few days before the Capitol attack. .

Videos prior to the riots show Stone was guarded by six people, members of the government’s anti-terrorist group, the Oath Keepers.

Stone told ABC News he had “no prior knowledge” of the riot.

“Because of the many threats against me and my family who volunteered for my safety, I couldn’t tell you their names,” Stone told the outlet.

More than 310 people have been charged in the Capitol uprising so far. More than a dozen people have been linked to extremist groups such as Proud Boys and Oth Keepers.

The FBI did not respond to Insider’s request for comment at the time of publication.
