The SoFi stadium, home to Rams and Chargers, has the largest video scoreboard of its kind, weighing in at over 2 million pounds

Two Los Angeles NFL teams made the joint announcement Wednesday that they now have the world’s largest video scoreboard: a 2.2 million-pound, 70,000-square-foot giant who authorities say has more than 80 million of pixels.

The official Twitter account of the SoFi stadium shared a video showing the huge Samsung video card that was installed on Wednesday.

In the video, the stadium’s chief technology officer, Skarpi Hedinsson, described it as “the largest graphical control system in sports history.”

“If you put all of that together, the game day experience will be unrivaled here at SoFi Stadium,” he said.

The stadium in Inglewood, California is the new home of the Rams and Chargers. Construction cost about $ 5 billion and is 97 percent complete, according to the teams.

The new massive display surpasses that installed at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, which was recognized in 2009 by Guinness World Records as the “World’s Largest Video Display,” according to Business Wire.

The new Rams and Chargers screen is three times as big, a Rams executive told CNBC last year.

At 120 yards long, Samsung’s screen is longer than the soccer field that now rests above. It has more than 260 speakers and uses the power of 1,500 home theater systems, according to an NFL press release.

“The design, as well as the video and audio capabilities of the board, are the first of their kind in sports and will set a new precedent for the stadium experience,” said Jason Gannon, managing director of the stadium.

The SoFi stadium is located on the site of the former Hollywood Park racecourse. It’s already slated to host some big events, including an upcoming Super Bowl, parts of the 2028 Summer Olympics, and WWE’s WrestleMania 37.
