In Grand Theft Auto Online – and I think the real world – superyachts are the ultimate symbol of wealth. I mean, you saw Under deck? It just sounds like hunting is what rich people do. The thing is, hunting is not worthless in the real world. Sure, it’s extravagant, but it has a function. It takes your places! Unfortunately for the richest of the rich in GTA Online, that is not the case. Superyachts in GTA Online actually do nothing.
Players cannot move the hunt themselves; instead, they can pay a captain $ 25,000 to do it for them. (Actually, this is starting to sound a lot more realistic for the super rich.) In essence, it’s an article that people just buy to flaunt their wealth, because yachts start at $ 6 million and only go up from there.
(There are other expensive items in GTA Online, such as high-end apartments. But these have a purpose: You can make money from them by doing heists.)
But last week, developer Rockstar Games announced a new summer update, the Los Santos Summer Special. It added a bundle of goods, including new superyacht missions. Finally, someone gave GTA Online the super-rich something to do! Rich GTA Online players were excited – finally they could take advantage of their extravagance.
The Los Santos Summer Special went live on Tuesday, adding since new co-op missions to GTA Online. The missions can be played solo or with a co-op group, and you to do get money from doing it. But … it’s not a lot of money. Not even enough to pay 1/10 the cheapest superyacht. (Rockstar, however, is running a double reward specifically until August 19, but it still won’t make a dent in the superyacht award.)
The good news is, yes will unlock the outfit of Yacht Captain by completing the six new missions. Now you can flaunt your wealth on land: I’m rich enough to pay for a yacht! (Or, at least, you’re friends with someone who does.) Sure, hunting still does not to do what then. But you to do have a lot of internet money!
