Level-5, like the studio behind the title Professor Layton, Ni no kuni, Yo-Kai Watch And Inazuma XI, Has virtually halted its operations in North America, according to a new report.
Games Industry.biz reports that Level-5 International America and the company’s spin-off fee Level Fees, Level-5 ABA began expanding its operations last year. Citing “multiple sources familiar with the matter”, the report suggested that this included placing a majority of staff in both offices, with an estimated ten employees each being let go.
Apparently, no reason was given for the scattering, but sources in the games industry.biz say employees were given “every signal” that the studio would close, leaving a much smaller team to do any necessary work.
A source reported that there are no concrete plans to release any more Level-5 games outside of Japan; Was the last title released in North America Snack World: Dungeon Crawl – Gold At the beginning of the year, and we were previously promised localization of the West for Yo-Kai and Watch Ch4, we have yet to see anything really come true.
