The police officer killed the dog while breaking the cockfight

Lieutenant Christian Bolok was killed by a rooster – a metal blade attached to a bird for a fight, Northern Summer Province police said.

“He was rushed to a provincial hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival due to heavy blood loss,” police said.

The Philippines has a long history of fighting both legal and illegal combat, but the game was banned in August after Covid-19 was found to be a source of infection.

Illegal cockfights in the country are known as “tupada” and are often employed in underground locations to avoid investigations by authorities.

“My heart is heavy because we have lost a brother who sacrificed his life in the name of service,” Arnal Apude, the provincial director of police for the Northern Summer, told the government-run Philippines News Agency in a statement. “(Philippine National Police) expresses its condolences on the untimely death of Lieutenant Bolok and extends its deepest sympathies to his family and relatives.”

The Philippine News Agency reported that three people were arrested on the occasion and three more suspects were identified, but most remained after fleeing the raid.

Officers seized seven Fighting Coxes and recovered 550 pesos (ડ 11).

The Bologna police force posted images of the memorial service held for the officer on Wednesday.
