Two restaurants announce tests of COVID-19 staff
By Outer Banks Voice on June 30, 2020
Two more restaurants on Hatteras Island have announced on Facebook that they are evaluating their staff (one is temporarily closing) due to concerns about COVID-19. On June 25, the Quarterdeck Restaurant & Bar and the Frisco Sandwich Company announced that they would be closing temporarily after one employee at each tested positive for COVID-19.
Here are the June 29 posts from Lisa’s Pizzeria in Rodanthe and Kat’s Deli in Hatteras
Lisa’s pizzeria
Lisa’s management wishes to inform our customers that it has been confirmed that several of our employees attended a party that was also attended by a person who tested positive for Covid-19. These staff members have been removed from our schedule and will remain out of our facility until their evidence is returned. Two tests have given negative and we are waiting for the results of 7 more. If any of these tests prove positive, we plan to immediately close and work with local health officials on a plan to reopen.
We ask for patience and understanding, as this is a very difficult situation to handle. We have been in contact with local health officials and follow and will follow all local and state guidelines. We pride ourselves on creating a system that keeps our customers and employees healthy and maintains more than the required safety measures, however this was beyond our control. Today, our primary focus is to make the best decision for our employees, our community, and our customers in equal measure.
These are difficult times to navigate, much less operate a small business in a tourist destination. We appreciate your support, but request that any negativity be reserved. We believe the only way to get over this is with grace and understanding … stay safe and healthy and take care of your loved ones.
Kat’s Deli in Hatteras
Hi all. Due to the increased spread of the Covid 19 community, we have decided that it is in our best interest for our staff and the community to close until our staff can be tested. While no one at the deli is symptomatic or tested positive, a member of our staff has contacted someone who tested positive. To be sure, our staff will be tested tomorrow. We are trying to be transparent with our community and get ahead of this. We hope to reopen this weekend! We love our community and we want to make sure that we are doing everything in our power to stop the spread! Stay safe and healthy.
