By Outer Banks Voice on July 19, 2020

To update: Rooster’s has announced that it will close the night of July 19 for a deep cleaning and will reopen on Monday, July 20 at 11 am

Given the unprecedented challenges of managing a business, particularly a restaurant, during a pandemic, the Voice applauds the efforts of those who are transparent to the community and make safety a priority. These cases also illustrate the importance of receiving test results quickly in order to turn the lights back on as soon as possible.

This was published on the Plaza Azteca Facebook page on July 19.

“We were informed that one of our staff members tested positive for covid19. We take the health and safety of our staff and clients very seriously and strictly follow all CDC guidelines and recommendations.

This person has not been in the restaurant since 07/12/2020, but as a precaution, all our staff members, regardless of whether they may have had contact with this person or not, have been evaluated in urgent care in Nags Head and we are waiting for the test results in the next 24-48 hours.

Meanwhile, we have hired a professional company to carry out a comprehensive Covid19 sanitation in the restaurant. To that end, the restaurant will be closed today, Sunday, July 19 and Monday, July 20, 2020.

Once we receive the test results and our employees are authorized, we plan to reopen on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 4 pm The safety of our customers and staff remains our top priority and we will continue to follow the guidelines and recommendations of CDC covid19 .

We appreciate your support and understanding during these unprecedented times. “

Also on July 19, Rooster’s Southern Kitchen posted this on their Facebook page:

“As a precaution, we are closed for lunch and lunch today so that our front-of-house staff members can get tested for Covid-19.”
