The original episode featured the Kanamits landing on Earth and sharing their advanced technology, which quickly eliminated world hunger and ended the global arms race.

After the title of a book the aliens brought with them was translated as, “To serve man,” the humans let their guard down, assuming that the creatures would only enhance their civilization.

But after humans are brought to the Kanamits’ home planet, the book is translated further, revealing that it is a cookbook, and aliens have eliminated poverty on Earth to fatten humans for slaughter.

The episode has become one of the most famous of the original Twilight Zone episodes thanks to its shocking twist.

Shocker: In the original, it was revealed that aliens who appeared to be helping humans only fattened them up to eat them.
