Unfortunately, the coronavirus is still wreaking havoc around the world, especially in the U.S., and it appears that Samsung plans to launch at least one product designed for these times of pandemic.
Roland Quandt of WinFuture shared a photo of three Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra cases, each with the words “Antimicrobial Coating” prominently featured on the package.

The logo alone does not say exactly which microbes the cases will protect against, although research has shown that certain coatings can be effective in defending against the spread of the new coronavirus. If Samsung has managed to build this defense on a case, and LetsGoDigital believes so, then this would be a huge incentive to go with a top-notch Galaxy Note 20 case.
Can a case protect against COVID-19?
To be clear, even if this coating protects against the coronavirus, it is unlikely to be a magic bullet. The antimicrobial coating featured in the previous research is able to reduce the amount of virus by 90% in ten minutes and 99.9% in two hours, even two weeks after the first application. Apparently it has to be reapplied every three to four months.
“It is not a substitute for regular cleaning and disinfection, but it covers it between regular disinfection and cleaning,” study lead author Charles Gerba told Barron’s. He added that his best use cases would be for the subway and buses “because he could disinfect them, but then the next people who enter there will contaminate the surfaces again.”
Obviously, that’s not the expected use case for smartphones, where generally one person will hold them all the time. But any peace of mind is better than no peace of mind, and it’s clear that Samsung has been thinking about smartphone hygiene in this pandemic-stricken world.
A few weeks ago, Samsung introduced a hybrid UV sterilizer and wireless charger, which disinfects your phone while charging. It is for sale in various markets for just over $ 50.
Galaxy Note 20 Ultra confirmed colors – and 4G version
It’s unclear how significant Samsung’s issue over Galaxy Note 20 accessories will be when it unveils the smartphone to the world on August 5, but take a closer look at the picture and reveal two other cool things about the phone.
First off, the colors confirm that the Note 20 Ultra will come in copper, black and white. But the most interesting thing is that the text at the bottom describes the case as appropriate for both the Note 20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra 5G. That means there could be an LTE-only version of the Note 20 Ultra, which is a bit surprising, though it’s welcome if the price ends up being lower.
For a quick recap, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will be a real powerhouse. We expect a device with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus technology (Exynos 990 in some regions), backed by 12 GB of RAM and internal storage of 256 or 512 GB. It will have a 120Hz screen for doodling with the improved S Pen more responsive than ever, and it will have a triple camera array, topped by the excellent 108MP lens that made the Galaxy S20 Ultra so much fun.
