The new faces of pride: Hailie Sahar in pose, defense and more

With Pride born out of protest by black trans women, what encouragement would you like to give to fans and family to get involved this Pride month?

Always keep in mind that every great cause throughout history has had the courage to lead us there. Be brave, proud, and help heal this world with more love and support. Get up and let love guide you along with those who are doing the same. In the end, it’s about freedom and no one is free unless we are all free.

What queer media, be it books, music or movies / TV, have you used this year to save yourself from uncertainty? Why?

I can’t say that there is a specific Queer media or music outlet that I turn to, however I have implemented meditation and emotional digging within myself to be even more aligned with my vibration and frequency. I constantly practice creating positive energy and raising the momentum that surrounds me and others. I don’t feel uncertain. Instead, I feel hopeful.

Do you remember the first time you saw yourself reflected in entertainment in a way that filled you with pride? If so, what was it? And if you are still waiting, what do you expect to see?

The first time I felt pride through entertaining reflections was during the first season of Pose. I knew right then and there that this was a milestone in much-needed visual representation in entertainment. In the near future, I would like to see the normalization of people with trans experience, including intersex and non-binary people in everyday society.
