The new device puts music in your head – no headphones required

London (AP) – Imagine a world where you revolve around your own personal voice. You can listen to your favorite tunes, play loud computer games, watch a movie or get the navigation direction in your car – all this without disturbing the people around you.

The new future of Israeli company Novate Systems is expected to be presented by audio dio technology “Sound Beaming”. On Friday it will launch a desktop device that beams sound directly to listeners without the need for headphones.

The company provided its Associated Press with an exclusive demo of its SoundBeamer 1.0 desktop exclusive prototype before its launch on Friday.

The urge to listen is directly outside the sci-fi movie. The 3-D sound is so close that it is inside your ear, while also in front and behind it.

Noveto expects the device to have many practical uses, ranging from allowing office fee employees to listen to music or conference calls to colleagues to allow someone to play a game, movie or music without disturbing their significant other.

The lack of headphones means that it is possible to hear other sounds clearly in the room.

This technology uses a 3-D sensing module and detects the position of the ear by sending sound through the user’s ear to create a sound pocket. The sound can be heard in stereo or spatial 3-D mode which makes 360-degree noise around the audience, the company said.

The demo includes goose nature video clips on the lake, bee buzzing and a roaring brook, where the listener feels like he’s completely immersed in the scene.

But even CEO Christoph Ramstein finds it difficult to put the concept into words. “The brain doesn’t understand what it doesn’t know,” he said.

At the Noveto demonstration from Tel Aviv by Zoom, Soundbeamer Product Manager Aina and Wall Lover were unable to hear the sound of gunfire at the gaming demo.

That’s the point. But for the first time, she enjoyed the feedback from people trying out software.

“Most people just say, ‘Wow, I don’t really believe that,'” he said.

“You don’t trust him because he sounds like a speaker, but no one can hear him… he supports you and you’re in the middle of everything. It’s happening around you. ”

By changing the setting, the sound can come around when the listener moves his head. It is not possible to get out of the way of the beam and hear anything, which creates a surreal experience.

“You don’t have to tell the device where you are. It doesn’t go to a specific place, “said Wall Lavoter.

“He follows you wherever you go. So it’s for you personally – follow you, play what you want inside your head. “

“This is what we dream of,” she adds. “A world where the sound you want comes from. You don’t have to disturb others and distract others with your voice. But you can still interact with them. ”

After his first listening experience, Ramstein asked himself how he differed from other audio Dio devices.

“I was thinking, ‘Yeah, but is it the same with headphones?’ No, because I have freedom and it’s like I have the freedom to do what I have to do. And my voice is playing in my mind because something is going to happen here, which is hard to explain because we have no reference to it. “

While the concept of sound beaming is not new, Noveto was the first to introduce the technology and their SoundBeamer 1.0 desktop device will be the first branded consumer product.

Ramstein said a “small, sexier” version of the prototype would be ready for consumer release by Christmas 2021.

“You know, I was trying to figure out how to compare sound with any other discovery in history. And I think that’s the only thing that came to mind… the first time I tried an iPod like, ‘Oh, my God. What is it? ‘ I think sound beaming is something that is just as distracting as that. There is something to be said about it that did not exist before. There is freedom to use it. And that’s really amazing. “
