The phenomenal phenomenon called supernatural refers to transient bright phenomena – the light of bright, unpredictable and bizarre light.
NASA says this is the first time such an event has been seen in another world.
Lights on the largest planets in the solar system were predicted by scientists who thought they would be seen in a Jupiter-like atmosphere.
They were discovered by scientists working with an ultraviolet spectrograph instrument on Juno, which was investigating a space around the planet.
Giles, an old scientist and lead author of the paper, said the UVS was designed to characterize Jupiter’s beautiful northern and southern lights.
“But we found UVS images that showed not only Jovian Aurora, but also a bright flash of UV light on that corner. The more our team saw in it, the more we realized we would have found Juno. A TLE on Jupiter.”
“Sprite” is a transient light event that is provoked by the discharge of lightning from a hurricane beneath it.
On Earth, they last only a few milliseconds, reaching the sky, both toward the ground and upwards, with long cells identified by central light.
The “elves”, meanwhile, which are short for light emission and very low frequencies due to electromagnetic pulse sources, look like flattened disks, and are found in the upper atmosphere.
When they are equally temporary, they can grow to a size of 320 kilometers on Earth.
“On Earth, sprites and elves appear in a reddish color due to their interaction with nitrogen in the upper atmosphere,” Giles said.
“But on Jupiter, the upper atmosphere contains mostly hydrogen, so they will look blue or pink.”
These events may have been just large bolts of lightning, but scientists quickly ruled out the possibility; Lights were found 300 kilometers above the water-cloud level itude elevation of Jupiter, where most of the planet’s electricity is formed.
Moreover, the spectrograph noted that the bright flashes were dominated by hydrogen emissions.
“We continue to find more so-called signs of elves and sprites whenever we pass old science,” Giles said.
“Now we know that what we’re looking for will be easier to find on Jupiter and other planets. And comparing people on Earth with sprites and elves from Jupiter will help us better understand the electrical activity in the planet’s atmosphere.”
The findings were published in the Geophysical Research Journal in Planet on October 27.
It has brought scientists back to the data providing “crucial data” on Jupiter’s massive hurricanes, revealing that they are even more similar to Earth’s hurricanes than previously thought.
