The launch of the CD project Red Stock Cyberpunk 2077 is down 29%

Share prices have plummeted despite the release of the sci-fi RPG anticipated by Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Project Red.

The stock was down 29% per share from PLN 443 at the time of writing to PLN 313.9.

This decline may be partly attributed to complaints surrounding errors and setbacks, which are spread through social media.

The stock price also appears to have fallen since the reviews emerged, indicating that expectations for the game were too high if the first wave of ratings gave Cyberpunk a metric score of 91.

The launch itself has also failed to boost the company’s stock as the share price fell 7.3% from PLN 390.6 to PLN 362 during December 10. At one point, it dropped as much as 7.8% on the PLN 360.

The game was pre-ordered eight million times on Twitter, despite the investor ties to that CD project. By comparison, The Witcher 3 achieved just 1.5 million before launch.

More than half of these pre-orders were for PCs, making it the platform’s largest launch ever. Cyberpunk also sped up a million equivalent users on Steam, breaking the record for single-player games.

Looking ahead, CD Project Red suffered a 31% decline from its all-time peak in August, when its market cap was PLN 42.5 billion with a share price of PLN 460.8. This came after the announcement of the Pokemon Go-style AR mobile game based on The Witcher.

At the time, it was a CD project red ahead of Ubisoft, although our analysis revealed how dependent the Polish developer Cyberpunk 2077 was.

The company has already suffered a 25% decline in the two months that followed this peak, due to reports of a mandatory crunch and further delays in the game, which pushed Cyberpunk back to its last release date of December 10.

Older and newer, as well as streaming services like Stadia, could match the sales of 17 million units in the first two weeks of the game Red Dead Redemption 2, according to Bloomberg forecasts, setting a new record.

According to its analysis, Cyberpunk 2077 is likely to be the biggest selling game ever in a project of 29.7 million units, replacing its vendor The Witcher 3 with 28 million.
