The latest Blockbuster in the world will soon be available for rent on Airbnb – for just $ 4 a night

Years ago, people often spent so much time on the shelves at the local Blockbuster it may feel like they lived there. Now some special fans of the once powerful chain can actually – for one night.

Sandi Harding, the store manager of the latest Blockbuster in the world, will allow a residence press release from company on the Bend, Oregon, establishment via Airbnb during Tuesday, according to a press release from the company.

But, there is a catch.

Only residents of Deschutes County, where the Blockbuster is located, are allowed to apply to reserve a stay at the store. The store is also only available for a limited time – for three individual reservations in one night on 18, 19 and 20. Booking applications are open from 17 August for residents of the province.

Harding let County residents stay at the store overnight to thank her for her support during “these uncertain times,” the release said.

“In appreciation for all that the local community has done recently to support the latest-of-its-kind during these uncertain times, this end of summer sleepover movie lovers in Deschutes County will offer the opportunity for a 90s-themed stay to to experience life vanished Friday night tradition just as we remember it, “the release explained.

Up to four people were allowed to stay in the store, according to the Airbnb listing.

Harding, who has held the establishment since 2004, will ensure guests have a movie stay, according to the release. “Sandi will be you Airbnb host and will provide the shelves with all the movies your heart could wish for before handing over the keys, “said the release.

In photos posted by Airbnb, the accommodations mimic a 90s living room and appear to be located right in the middle of the store. The layout has a bean bag chair and a geometric bed spread, among other nostalgic accents.

The longtime manager lists the location for only $ 4 a night, plus taxes and fees – only one penny more than the price of a movie rental, according to the release.

The release instructed additional tenants to note the host rules that are in line with local guidelines in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to being residents of the province, those applying for a residency must also come from the same household “to minimize risk.” Guests are also told that they must follow the safety guidelines of the company in connection with wearing face masks and practicing social distance in public.

“This private sleepover is planned with safety in mind, and guests can confidently know that the store is being cleaned and prepared in accordance with CDC guidelines and consistent with Airbnb’s improved cleaning protocol,” the release insisted.

For those who are unable to view a stay at Blockbuster, customers can view a limited amount of time to the living room space during shopping hours “after the last guest check-out,” according to the release.

The Bend, Oregon store, became the last Blockbuster location on the planet last spring, after a location in Australia closed.

Blockbuster was once the largest video retailer in the US, with nearly 9,000 stores worldwide. At one point, it is rumored that a new store will open every 17 hours. But with the advent of Netflix, Blockbuster stores began to disappear. Following bankruptcy in 2010, Blockbuster closed down almost all stores.
