The second Wonder Woman 1984 trailer crashed Saturday DC Comics’ first virtual fan convention ever, DC FanDome. The trailer gives a good look at the wild-hearted appearance and costume of the animal print as Kristen-Cheig, and it even features Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) modeling parachute pants and a star-spangled fanny pack.

The film moves the action from the setting of the first movie of 2017 to the colorful 1980s, and the trailer shows classic retro modes like Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) fighting Cheetah in what looks like the White House.

Gadot returns as the Amazon superhero for the sequel, and Pine’s Trevor returns as well, despite probably dying in the 2017 movie. He’s a bit confused by the time jump from his WWI era, wondering about the ability of Wonder Woman to stay youthful (apply it), and surprised by inventions like radar and parachute pants. (“Does anyone fall now?” Asks a wide-eyed Trevor.) The film also stars Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord, Robin Wright as Aunt of Wonder Woman, Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as her mother, Hippolyta. Director Patty Jenkins is also back for the new film.

During the DC FanDome panel, cast members and Jenkins recall about fun on set, including a fight scene where Wiig’s hair fell into Gadot’s costume.

Fans, including tennis star Venus Williams, asked questions. Williams wondered who would win a tennis match between Wonder Woman and Cheetah, and Wiig insisted it would be her character, because Wonder Woman would probably have a gold racket that would be too heavy. Cast members also praised fan art and cosplay photos, and at one point, Lynda Carter appeared on the 1970s TV magazine Wonder Woman to chat with the cast.

“You’re a real Wonder Woman,” Gadot told Carter. Jenkins said the cast talks about Carter every day while he was making the film. And Carter herself said that her own daughter revealed that it was not until she saw Gadot in full costume that she truly understood why the mighty superhero was important to so many people.

“We’re not here to find Wonder Woman again,” Jenkins told Carter. “We’re just here to pick up the torch and pass it on.”

De first trailer came out in December and featured Wonder Woman riding lightning, plus showed some of her damn friendship with archaeologist Barbara Minerva, who becomes Cheetah.

The film was originally scheduled to hit theaters in 2019, but was postponed until 2020, and then again delayed by the coronavirus pandemic. The studio is now hoping for one Release date 2 October.

The first film was mostly set in World War I, but the sequel has progressed to the Cold War of the 1980s, with the bright colors and shopping malls of that decade playing a role.
