Home liquor delivery in Maharashtra to start. Here’s how to register online

Home delivery of liquor in Maharashtra begins at 10 a.m. Today, except for overcrowded districts like Mumbai, Nagpur, according to an order issued by the state department of special taxes. The state government has allowed the delivery of liquor to the home to avoid crowds in stores amid the blockade imposed by the coronavirus. 23 out of the 36 districts of Maharashtra have been allowed to operate liquor stores during the ongoing blockade.

The suburban districts of Mumbai and Mumbai were operating liquor stores prior to closing on May 5 by order of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

According to the guidelines, retail stores can operate between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., while the rules of distancing and social hygiene are maintained. However, as the store owners had looked for more time to prepare, the service will begin as of Friday, according to the government resolution (GR) issued by the state department of special taxes.

“Liquor home delivery will begin Friday across the state, where stores are already open in non-containment zones. A store owner cannot name more than 10 delivery people and one delivery person. it cannot carry more than 24 bottles of liquor allowed at a time, “said the order.

In providing relief to consumers, the government also ordered that store owners not charge more than the maximum price printed on the bottle.

Chandrapur, Wardha and Gadchiroli have been classified as dry districts, while Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, Nanded, Parbhani and Nagpur have been banned from operating liquor stores to open during closure.

The GR also made clear that the online sale of liquor is an unwritten contract between the buyer and the seller, therefore the state will not be a party to any possible dispute between them. “Despite selling online, the liquor stores will have to comply with the established standards for physical separation and disinfection of their personnel,” the order said.

In providing relief to consumers, the government also ordered that store owners not charge more than the maximum price printed on the bottle.
