Former Grand Theft Auto Toe series producer Leslie Benziz has raised .8 40.8 million for her in-development sci-fi open world game, Everywhere.

According to a report in The Telegraph, Benziz’s studio build has been successful in investing in the upcoming game from a variety of sources, including Rocket Boy, Chinese tech company Netiz (which has recently made several large gaming investments).

According to consultancy firm Buhurst, Build Rocket Boy’s latest round of funding attracted more than 40 40 million in investments.

Benziz worked on the Grand Theft Auto Toe series at Ruststar North until 2016, when he left the company and took legal action against the studio and its parent company Take-Two, claiming un-paid 150 150 million in unpaid royalties. The case was long and awkward but was finally settled in 2019.

Everywhere will be different from what Benzez did before.

“Everywhere there are a lot of traditional game mechanics systems but we’re going for something more that inspires, well, everywhere,” Benziz told VentureBeat in a 2017 interview.

“Players are becoming smarter and need more of their games, and we want players to be able to live the way they want in our world. We aim for a variety of game modes and genres that not only tell our stories, but also enable players to live in the identities and adventures they want to explore. “

The game hasn’t been seen in a while, and the current status of the title is unclear – with this new round of funding, it’s clear that everywhere is at least still in active development.

Benziz has joined Matthew Smith (audio dio lead) and Colin Entwistle (lead camera programmer), both former Rockstar employees who joined Build a Rocket Boy back in 2017.
