Sony’s next PS5 hardware has appeared on FCC, providing us with the first close-up photos of the next-gen console. The FCC has released various images showing the standard PS5 horizontally laid, embedded cables and removable base that have consoles in both vert and horizontal positions.
The photos also show how big the PS5 really is. We learned earlier this week that the PS5 is the largest game console in modern history, also in Xbox One VCR-like shape and topped by Sony’s own PS3. Sony released the official parameters during its PS5 event this week, but it doesn’t include “the biggest launch” or optional base measurements.
From these FCC photos it is clear that fitting the PS5 to entertainment centers is becoming a challenge, just as it will be with the Xbox Series X. Both consoles seem to be primarily designed to be vertically aligned, looking inappropriate on their sides.
Unfortunately, FCC photos do not keep an eye on how you can access the NVMe slot on the PS5. Sony is allowing PS5 owners to expand storage space, but we don’t have full details on how this will work yet. Sony has also lamented that the PS5 hardware is customized in a way that previous PlayStation consoles did not have, so it is possible to remove at least one side panel of the PS5.
Sony is launching the PS5 in the US on November 12, priced at 4 9499.99. Second disk less PS5 digital version. Will also be available for 399.99. Sony also announced earlier this week that PS5 games will cost games 69.99.
