Reviews for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077 begin to come out soon after the game’s official launch, and it doesn’t look good.
Copies of the console review Cyberpunk 2077 The PC version was made available to the press this week immediately after it went live, so surprisingly the final reviews are currently a bit far and wide.
In most cases, reviewers of the PS4 and Xbox One versions find out how CD Project Red’s ambitious sci-fi RPG runs in public at the same time as those who unlocked their game on December 10th. But first written console reviews, European outlets coming from the media, don’t portray positively.
French website Jeuxvideo.com gave Cyberpunk 2077 a score of 35/100. The translation of the review reads that “research in the open world is often cumbersome, sometimes it can’t be played”, citing a range of technical issues such as low resolution, frame rate issue and crashes without displaying textures. It turns out that “these fat versions are surprising proof that Cyberpunk 2077 should be nothing more than a post-normal game.”
On Metacritic, GamePro Germany’s score is recorded as 68, although that is not the whole picture. The German website seems to have downgraded its score by 20 points for base console versions. The translation reads that “the fun of the game is greatly weakened by enormous technical flaws such as frame rate drops, interruptions and graphics errors.” When tested on the Next-Gen console, it is upgraded to a score of 83, although it still mentions “technical flaws”.
At least four published review scores are required before a metascritic can be metascored. However, existing reviews do not look promising either in progress. These overwhelmingly unfavorable user reviews are not included Cyberpunk already receives on PS4 and Xbox One.
The PlayStation Universe effects lament that “gamers on Base PS4 are struggling to find any kind of fun in the game due to blurred vision, framerate drops, and muddy appearance of the game.” Meanwhile, Push Square calls it “so far, a huge disappointment.”
Despite many bugs and technical issues, the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 still has a metascore of 90. But if poor reviews of console versions continue on its current path, we can see the biggest disparity in review statistics. Game between platforms.
However, that does not diminish the commercial success of cyberpunk. Based on its eight million pre-orders, it has not only recouped its development and marketing costs, but also beaten World War F and Craft: Shadowlands as the best-selling PC game ever.
