The Fiend Returns at WWE Extreme Rules, Sister Abigail attacks Braun Strowman, more (photos, videos)

WWE’s “The Horror Show at Extreme Rules” saw the return of The Fiend.

Tonight’s pay-per-view saw the first Wyatt Swamp Fight close the show as the main event. The untitled fight featured WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman taking on Bray Wyatt, but there was no official ending or announcement of a winner.

The cinematic-style fight took place away from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando and included several interesting moments: Strowman standing over another version of himself and watching as he tossed a shovel, Strowman battling some unidentified attackers (including one who noticed shot while Strowman was laughing), a female character who appeared to be Sister Abigail attacking Strowman with a snake, a glimpse of Alexa Bliss trying to lure Strowman by interpreting the idea of how he wanted to be with her during their stories a few years ago, the vision of Bliss possibly facing off against Abigail’s character as she lured Strowman to Wyatt’s attack, a ship on a lake that had social media fans thinking of Dilapidated Ship and Lake of Reincarnation by Matt Hardy, and more.

The fight ended with Strowman hitting Wyatt in a lake. Strowman nodded and said “it’s over,” but Wyatt returned from the water and brought Strowman with him. The water was calm until it began to bubble and turn red blood. It was then that The Fiend emerged from under the water and looked directly into the camera. “Let me in!” The Demon growled as the pay-per-view went off the air.

While there was no official announcement of the ending or a winner, the WWE website described the ending this way: “That was until Wyatt rose from the depths of the swamp, attacking Strowman with the Mandible Claw and pulling him underwater with him. Moments later, only “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt reappeared, with no signs of Strowman. “

For what it’s worth, the WWE On FOX Twitter account speculated that Wyatt could have won the game.

Wyatt Swamp Fight rumored to lead Wyatt to bring The Fiend back, for possible WWE title fight Summer festival August 23.

The Fiend has been away from WWE TV since defeating John Cena in the Firefly Fun House match on Night One of Wrestlemania 36. The regular version of Wyatt, or swamp version, has had a fight with Strowman since Wrestlemania 36. Strowman retained the Wyatt title at Money In the Bank in early May. Wyatt then disappeared and Strowman had a fight with The Miz and John Morrison, holding them in a 2v1 handicap match in WWE Reaction in mid-June. Wyatt originally addressed Strowman in the post-WrestleMania episode SmackDown and warned that he would be coming to get his old monster and the WWE Universal Title.
