The Destiny 2 live event is coming up today – here’s when to expect it

Destiny 2 is going to enter its next big chapter with the release of Beyond Light Expansion on Tuesday, November 10, and it has made some big story moves last season. There’s one more thing before the servers go offline offline on November 9 to make way for the expansion: another in-game live event.

Bungie is crazy about the event but suggested it would be on a very small scale. A small update is now live in the game, which you will need to download before the event starts. Bungie says that in order to participate in the live event you must be in the game before 6:50 p.m. PT / 9:50 p.m. ET.

If you’re having a hard time getting to Destiny right now, though, you’re not alone. Too many players are trying to log in to watch the live event, Destiny 2 servers are struggling and generating too many connection errors.

After downloading the update, it’s not immediately clear what we’ll see for that live event – but it looks like things have changed with Passenger. It looks like the giant robot God’s sections are shining; Some players have speculated that we’ll see Traveler calm down during the event, and that could be what’s happening here.

The arrival season story features a run-up to the game at Destiny 2 locations, which was either “vaulted” or removed from the game indefinitely. Titan, Ao, Mercury, Mars and Leviathan are all being removed in the Beyond Light, and those places have seen the story beat throughout the season as an explanation of that event, in which you try to help prepare to evacuate those planets. It looks like there may be a capper on that story before the live event, the launch of Beyond Light and its big changes to Destiny 2.

It is also worth noting Destination 2 servers go offline on Monday at 7pm PT / 10pm ET For further maintenance of Beyond Light. They are expected to survive with the new expansion Tuesday afternoon PT / 3 PM ET.
