The boxing match between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr., which takes place on September 12, has been postponed.
The two boxing legends were scheduled to meet in the fourth circle in a special eight-round exhibition fight next month, but the California-based pay-per-view event, billed as ‘Frontline Battle’ and is intended to stream on Triller, has now canceled.
According to The Ring, the bolt will instead take place at the same location at Dignity Health Park, Carson, but two months later on November 28th.
It is said that the main reason for the exhibition is because Tyson’s representatives feel that a reorganization could bring in additional revenue – a sentiment that Jones and his team agree with.
Jones was then confirmed last month as his first opponent in what promises to be an interesting spectacle to say the least.
It has been reported that a boxer vs MMA fighter should be on the undercard, and there will be “iconic musical performances” in the three-hour program – with rap icons Eminem and Lil Wayne two of the names mentioned .
Speaking last month, California State Athletic Commission Executive Director Andy Forster stated: “This is not a situation where they go out there trying to take each other off their heads.
“They’ll just be there to move the ring and show fans these legends.”
“This is search and destruction and I look forward to regaining my glory,” Tyson told TMZ Sports.
When asked about a knockout, he replied, “When the opportunity comes, I always look for it [the knockout]. “
Before he and Jones shoot horns for the first time, Tyson adopts a big shark as part of a TV challenge for ‘Shark Week’ on Sunday night. Here is to hope that none of them bite.
