That’s how Robert Pattinson grumbled his introduction as the new Batman.
The roughly two-minute teaser showed a dark Gotham City supremacy with crime that left Batman and his police partner James Gordon, played by Jeffrey Wright, to find out about a disturbing murder mystery.
“From your secret friend … Let’s play a game, just me and you,” Wright’s Gordon reads from a card left in a murder scene addressed to “the Batman.”
The trailer, which is tuned to the heartbreaking soundtrack of Nirvana’s “Something in the Way,” had all the familiar calling cards of previous Batman movies. There’s a revamped Batmobile, streaming streams and a few glimpses of Zoë Kravitz, who plays Selina Kyle aka Catwoman.
The trailer, which has been viewed more than 7 million times in less than 24 hours, is just the beginning of a major marketing campaign for Warner Bros.
Warner Bros. has taken some of DC Entertainment’s most beloved characters in a new direction, concentrating on more personal, and even adult-oriented stories. “The Batman” seems to be the latest movie to follow this trend.
The highly anticipated film is now set to hit theaters just in time for Halloween on October 1, 2021.
