Bangkok temporarily eliminated the new green line train fare along the 104 baht line. The BTS side rushed the BMA governor to pay almost ten billion baht.
Mr. Suraphong Laohha-Anya, President, Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company Limited BTS operator SkyTrain revealed to Bangkok Business that on January 15, 2021, BTS met with Bangkok to determine the new extended rates that will take effect on February 16, 2021 onwards. Will be used temporarily
The new rate adjustment will be divided into 4 tranches. In total, passengers sitting along the line will pay a fare of no more than 104 baht because they do not have to pay the entrance fee during the time the train travels from the extension to the concession leg of the BTS. As follows
1. BTS concession period (Mo Chit – In Nut Y Stadium – Saphan Taksin) fee 16-44 baht
2. Mo Chit-Khu Khot extension, fare from 15 to 45 baht (3 baht per station)
3. At the Nut-Housing Extension, Samut Prakan 15-45 baht (an increase of 3 baht per station)
4. Saphan Taksin-Bang Wa Extension 15-33 baht (an increase of 3 baht per station)
For this negotiation, it was agreed not to charge the entry fee because if the entry fee was charged, the fee for the entire Green Line train was 134 baht, which Bangkok and BTS agreed to help the public in this matter. Affected by the COVID-19 outbreak
“The 104 baht fee is still considered expensive for the public during this period. But now I still can’t do anything because I have not yet approved the Green Line Concession Contract. Which will calculate the price at no more than 65 baht.”
Additionally, BTS clarified with Major General Asawin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok. The payment due for the extension of the train with a limit of almost 10 billion baht
However, it will take 3-4 days for new fare changes to adjust the ticket system, even in the past, when fare was changed, it would take BTS to advertise 30 days in advance according to concession regulations. And this time when the temporary rate is finalized, it will also take about 30 days to advertise.
