Tesla’s driving display feature will soon accurately depict each of the company’s electric vehicles, rather than using the generic sedan, SUV, or truck currently featured on the dash display. Company CEO Elon Musk confirmed that Driving Visualization would receive these enhancements, which could open the door for a new in-car video game.
Musk answered a question from a Twitter follower asking if the Driving Display would improve to have custom vehicle models on the dash screen. @ WholeMarsBlog’s focus was primarily on the display of the Tesbert Cybertruck. “Rendering like a normal truck seems inappropriate,” the question said.
However, Musk confirmed that not only would the Cybertruck be rendered accurately, but all Tesla vehicles would be rendered “specifically as its model and color rather than as a generic sedan / SUV.”
Yes. The display will also soon show Teslas specifically as its model and color rather than as a generic sedan / SUV. It has potential for a fun buggy punch game.

The driving display gives Tesla owners a complete animated picture of the car’s surroundings. This includes other vehicles and some objects on the road.
However, the function does not tell the driver precisely which vehicle surrounds his car. Generalize your environment showing only the type of vehicle. For example, if a Ford Escape were close to the Tesla, an SUV would appear, but its shape would not match the exact appearance of a Ford Escape.
Interestingly, the Driving Display feature doesn’t show other Tesla cars. But it looks like an update is coming soon for owners who will fix this.
Additionally, Musk hinted that a new “punch buggy game type” could be derived from upcoming enhancements to Driving Visualization.
Tesla has worked to continually improve gamification within its vehicles, which has been a focus for Musk. The Tesla CEO himself is an avid video game fanatic, and has strived to add video games and other sources of entertainment to his vehicles to keep drivers busy when using a Supercharger or during idle time.
During the company’s recent 2020 Q2 Earnings Call, Musk noted that Tesla is working to add more productivity and entertainment-related features to prepare for the company’s Full Self-Driving suite to be complete and to be autonomous driving possible.
“Now when things get completely autonomous, then what are people going to do in the car,” Musk asked. “Well, I guess they will probably do productivity and entertainment of some kind, watch movies, play games, and work. That is in the future. We’re already putting some games and stuff in the car just for fun. “
Currently, the company offers a buggy-style racing game with Beach Buggy Racing 2. The game can be played using the wheel or connecting a compatible game controller.
Improvements to Tesla’s driving visualization will not only increase the accuracy of the company’s Autopilot and FSD suites, but will also give owners an additional sense of pride when driving near another of the company’s electric cars. Additionally, adding a new in-vehicle video game will increase driver entertainment as long as there is downtime.
