Tesla says black people are its U.S. counterpart. Only 4% have a leadership role


Black employees account for only 4% of Tesla Inc.’s American leadership role and 10% of its total employees in the country, making the electric car maker its first U.S. Diversity is disclosed in the report.

Tesla, based in Palio Alto, California, said it plans to increase the representation of all under-represented groups next year and historically recruit to black colleges and universities.

Nasdaq Inc. proposed before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday that, if approved, all Nasdaq-listed companies would be required to adopt new rules regarding board diversification.

These rules require most companies to state publicly why they do not have one, including one that identifies itself as a woman and one that identifies itself as an Understood Minority or LGBTQ +.
