Tesla Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) – Elon Musk is looking for AI experts as Tesla develops Dojo Supercomputer

A powerful computer is needed to process decisions and make decisions about all the data that a self-driving car sees on its travels. An even more powerful computer is needed to train the software that controls the car.

Because of this Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) is working on a powerful computer called Dojo, which will be used to train the Tesla neural network that will control the company’s self-driving cars.

What happened: CEO Elon Musk said recently Twitter that Does’s neural net training computer Dojo will become a ‘beast’, while inviting AI and computer chip experts to join the company and contribute to the project.

In a letter tweetje, Musk called “a really useful exaflop”, pointing to the power of the future computer project. This speed would make Dojo the most powerful supercomputer in the world, with today’s lead supercomputer having only about half that amount of data processing.

Benzinga’s Take: Tesla’s current method of data labeling uses human labor. Tesla seeks to improve speed and efficiency by moving to a computer / AI labeling approach. This will allow Tesla to roll out its Full Self-Driving software to owners faster, while making it safer and more reliable.

Tesla is expected to provide major updates to Autopilot within two to six weeks, according to Musk.
