[Tech tips] How to block someone on WhatsApp

WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging applications worldwide. It allows you to connect with your friends and family through text, voice and video messages. However, sometimes your mobile number reaches people you don’t want to talk to or is added to a promotional list. This is when you just want to stop receiving messages from these contacts.

To stop receiving messages from these contacts, you can simply block them on WhatsApp.

Keep in mind that blocking the WhatsApp contact will not deliver any text, the contact will try to send you. The contact will also be unable to view your details, such as their latest online status, display image, description, and more. Nor can you send them any messages without unlocking them.

How to block a contact on WhatsApp (iOS)

* Open WhatsApp and go to the chat of the person you want to block.

* Now touch your name / number and open the contact information page.

* Scroll down and tap the “Block this contact” button.

* It will ask for a confirmation, if you want to block the contact or not.

* Press confirm to block the contact.

How to block a contact on WhatsApp (Android)

Click on the “More” option and select the “Block” option.

* Open WhatsApp and go to the chat of the person you want to block.

* Now touch the three dots that are in the upper right corner of the chatbox.

* Click on the “More” option and select the “Block” option.

* Then it will ask for a confirmation, which when provided will block the contact.

To unblock the contact, simply open the chatbox window and press the unblock notification displayed inside the chatbox.
