Tech bosses, including Zuckerberg and Bezos, face the Congress grid – live | Technology

Hello Kari Paul, ready to guide you through today’s antitrust hearing, in which Congress will question top Google, Apple, Amazon and Facebook executives about their business practices..

Much of the testimony has been published in advance, so we know the main talking points about what the executives will say. Here is a quick summary.

Facebook

The social platform faces criticism that it is a monopoly in space, as it bought or copied most of its competitors in recent years.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg he’s ready to argue that Facebook has a fair amount of competition in space and around the world.

“Businesses are not bad just because they are big,” their prepared statements said.

Google

Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, will address the dominance of the search platform in the market. In his prepared comments, he argues that Google faces competition from growing social media platforms like Twitter and Pinterest.

“We know that Google’s continued success is not guaranteed,” he said in his prepared comments.

Apple

Executive Director Tim Cook It will argue that the company complies with the rules and faces a fair amount of competition in the market spaces where it operates.

It will address criticism that the rules surrounding the Apple app store, the only way through which iPhone users can download apps, constitute a control.

Amazon

Jeff Bezos Today he makes a rare appearance in Congress to defend the dominance of the tech giant in the retail space. Bezos, in his testimony, highlights his childhood and how Amazon emerged. He argues that small vendors have been successful in their third-party market, a practice that has come under scrutiny by lawmakers.
