Taylor Swift was upset that her summer plans were not working, so she will release a new album … tonight.

Surprise!

Taylor Swift was so discouraged that all of her big summer plans didn’t work out that she went to the studio to sort out her emotions. And as a result, she recorded an entirely new album, Folklore, which will fall at midnight tonight (July 23).

“Most of the things I had planned this summer did not end up happening, but there is something I had not planned for to happen,” she wrote on Instagram, announcing the surprise launch with a series of foggy images. wrapped forest. “And that’s my eighth studio album, folklore. Surprise Tonight, at midnight, I will release my new complete album of songs in which I have poured all my whims, dreams, fears and reflections. I wrote and recorded this music in isolation, but I was able to collaborate with some of my musical heroes. “

People Taylor worked with include The National producer / composer / multi-instrumentalist Aaron Dessner, who co-wrote or produced 11 of the album’s 16 songs, as well as Bon Iver, who co-wrote and sings on one of the songs, William Bowery, who co-wrote two songs, and of course Swift’s frequent collaborating producer / songwriter / singer Jack Antonoff, who said “it’s basically a musical family right now.”

“Before this year, I probably would have thought too much about when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time, but the times we live in remind me that nothing is guaranteed,” Swift said. “My gut instinct tells me that if you do something you love, you should put it in the world. That’s the side of uncertainty I can deal with. I love you guys so much.”

Folklore is the follow up of last year Lover; At the time of publication, no additional information was available on the track list.
