Taco Bell caters to order on demand in the age of the coronavirus by launching a restaurant concept “Go Mobile” for 2021, the fast food chain announced Thursday.
The locations of Taco Bell Go Mobile of the Yum Brands chain will be smaller sites at 1,325 square feet, compared to their regular restaurant locations of 2,500 square feet.
FAST-FOOD CHAINS OPEN TIRE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS
Customers can order through the Taco Bell app, and each location will include two drive-to-runs to speed up the ordering and removal process. The “smart” restaurant will also detect when customers arrive for their orders and suggest the fastest route to pick up their food.
Alternatively, Taco Bell Go Mobile customers will have the option to get their food via contactless pick-up from sidewalks. And to streamline the process, the restaurant will order tablets that order drive-thrus.
Also photos of the concept of the restaurant show only limited facilities.

FAST FOOD CHAINS COMPETE FOR CORONAVIRUS DELIVERY SPIKE
“With demand for our drive-thru at an all-time high, we know that adapting to the rapidly changing needs of our consumers has never been more important,” Taco Bell President and Global COO Mike Grams said in a statement. “For the first time, our guests will have the opportunity to choose the pick experience that best suits their needs, all while never leaving the comfort of their cars.”
The chain said earlier this year that it was planning to hire 30,000 new workers for delivery and sidewalk rollers.

Taco Bell joins a number of chains that have penned rental attempts to eat eaters during COVID-19. Pizza chain giant Dominos in March said it had more than 10,000 openings for delivery managers, pizza buyers and customer service representatives to place more orders.
