The SP politician is temporarily retiring from politics due to illness. He is sure it will heal.
As a general practitioner, the National Councilor of the SP Zurich, Angelo Barrile, knows how to communicate in case of illness: directly and clearly. Now he himself was diagnosed with cancer on Thursday and will make it public immediately. In a personal statement, he writes: “Since I went to the hospital with an emergency last Sunday with a fever, everything has changed, and today I can be sure that I have lymphatic cancer.”
The disease seems to have been announced in advance for Barrile. Therefore, it has become quiet around him in recent months, he writes. It wasn’t an easy time, but now you have an explanation and a name for it. Chemotherapy started on Friday.
Withdrawal until further notice
SP Zurich backs Angelo Barrile, 44, who has represented the party on the National Council for five years and sits on the State Political Commission, among other things. Health policy, the fight against discrimination and migration are among its political priorities. Barrile will let the office in Bern “rest indefinitely,” writes the SP. The chances of curing his illness are intact, but Angelo Barrile will have to spend all his energy on it. Therefore, it will be removed from the public.
Barrile is originally from Pfungen, but has been practicing general medicine in Zurich for several years, where she also lives with her husband. The party asks the public to respect Barrile’s request for calm during this difficult time and to refrain from asking questions. He wishes Barrile great strength and a speedy recovery.
