9 expressions that were “full of shit” 15 years ago
Time flies and the language changes. Always has been, always will be. One becomes particularly aware of this when one thinks of how “we guys” spoke 15 years ago.
It is true that if there were no social networks, I myself, a tender 27-year-old, would not necessarily understand everything that is fashionable according to the language of young people. Sometimes I even surprise myself with the extremely stupid thought that the language is being trampled on.
But wait a minute. Of course, this parable is not that simple. This is how I remember a short sequence where I got into our black Volvo V70 with my mother and sister in winter.
Of course, that didn’t make much sense to my mother because it’s not nice to be cold per se. I had no way of knowing that at school we used “nice” in the sense of “me too” or “that’s the same to me.” It is not the only term that, from the current point of view, is a bit extended when it comes to our use of language.
So how about a slice of linguistic nostalgia (knowing, of course, that the Zurich dialect is likely over-represented here due to my own past *)? This is followed by nine conversations, as they could have happened not too long ago.
* Don’t worry, there is enough space in the comment column to objectify this linguistically subjective selection.
