YB celebrates clear win against CSKA Sofia thanks to convincing first-half
The Young Boys are in the middle of the group stage of the Europa League. Storm talent Felix Mambimbi shot the Bernese in a 3-0 win against CSKA Sofia with a double to win and into second place.
Felix Mambimbi, 19, turned out to be an excellent host in Wankdorf. The young man from Bern introduced himself to the Bulgarian guest at the first opportunity, with a lasting impression. After 95 seconds and a first positional error in the CSKA defense, the YB attacker fell like a hawk on the exposed ball, drove it a few meters in front of him, before launching it on goalkeeper Gustavo Busatto to put the 1- 0. Mambimbi’s goal was the introduction to an almost perfect evening in Bern.
The Young Boys had been searching for ideas and a recipe for success on offense in recent weeks, but scoring goals against the Bulgarians was surprisingly easy for them. After a good half hour, Gerardo Seoane’s team was winning 3-0, although he hadn’t done anything accounting at every opportunity. In the first five minutes, the Berner Express ran over the guests around Mambimbi in such a way that a 2-0 would have been possible and justifiable.
YB resolutely uses CSKA’s weaknesses
The fact that YB regained their previous scoring qualities against Sofia was only partly due to their own commitment. Time and again it happened that the Bernese didn’t have to do much to cause trouble on the Bulgarian defense. Before the 1-0, the central Sofia had pulled out of the game in a head duel with Nsame, in the 18th minute Miralem Sulejmani was enough on the way to 2-0 with a simple bodily deception to break with his rival.

In the 32nd minute, CSKA captain Valentin Antov Mambimbi offered his second goal as he tried to let it run into offside. At any moment it was clear that the Bulgarians, Petar Zanev, were missing a major veteran in central defense due to injury.
The goal of “passing the winter” remains in focus
The guest owed a lot in the fourth appearance under interim coach Daniel Morales. The defensive stability with which Sofia scored a remarkable 0-0 draw against AS Roma a week ago at the Stadio Olimpico was as inconspicuous as the simple offensive game that toppled FC Basel’s European Cup dreams in early October. would have.
“The team absolutely deserves the win,” said YB coach Gerardo Seoane at SRF. “We were able to implement a lot of what we set out to do right away.” He is particularly pleased that a young player like Mambimbi was able to show off so much.
For the last Swiss representative in current European Cup competitions, the clear victory means a jump to second place in Group A. In doing so, the Young Boys also underline their ambitions to be second behind group favorite Roma in the knockout phase of the To ensure competition. The Romans, still undefeated, also lived up to their role as favorites with a 5-0 win over Cluj.
