The draw of the European groups for the World Cup qualifiers gave Switzerland once again Italy as an opponent.
The Swiss team will have 3 duels with Italy next year. The EM opponent of coach Vladimir Petkovic’s team is also the group leader in qualifying for the final of the 2022 World Cup in Group C of Switzerland.
From Pot 3 the group Northern Ireland was drawn. The Northern Irish still know the Swiss from the playoffs of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. Bulgaria and Lithuania complete the qualifying group for the finals in Qatar. This was the result of the draw at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich.

Not a difficult lot for Germany
Germany, a preferred opponent of Petkovic in the run-up, have received grateful opponents on paper in Group J, including Romania and Iceland. World champion France faces Ukraine and Finland, world number 1 Belgium faces Wales and the Czech Republic.
Regular grading begins in March of next year and ends in November. The game is played in the 4 time slots in March, September, October and November. The final round will take place from November 21 to December 18, 2022.
