The PSG forward gives Brazil their second victory in the World Cup qualifiers. Argentina also remains impeccable.
Brazil was twice behind against Peru away from home, but the Seleção was able to count on Neymar again in Lima. The Paris St-Germain striker contributed three goals, two of them penalties, and led Brazil to a 4-2 victory.
With his goals 62-64 for the Brazilian team, Neymar surpassed Ronaldo and ranked second on the list of all-time goalscorers. The record holder is Pelé with 77 goals.
Argentina wins in heights
Argentina also fell behind when they played in Bolivia at 3,650 meters above sea level in La Paz. Lautaro Martínez tied shortly before the end of the first half, while Joaquín Correa scored 11 minutes before the end to make it 2-1. Lionel Messi did not score, but was delighted with Argentina’s first victory in La Paz in 15 years. “Great triumph at great height,” he wrote on Instagram.
He put a brake on Uruguay. Despite the two goals from Luis Suárez, he lost 4-2 in Ecuador. Chile drew 2-2 after conceding a late goal against Colombia.
