Dario Cologna closes the season with a top 10. In the more than 50km pursuit race from Maloja to S-chanf, Münstertal stayed ahead of the leaders until shortly before the end. However, when the pace increased on the last long climb about 2 kilometers before the finish, it had to be started. At the finish line, Cologna was ninth, 24.9 seconds behind.
As the second best Swiss, Jason Rüesch finished in 37th place, while Ueli Schnider, Candide Pralong, Jonas Baumann, Beda Klee and Cedric Steiner missed the top 40.
Norway’s double win: Kläbo and Bolschunow on the podium
Norway could expect a double win. Simen Hegstad Krüger prevailed in a three-way battle against compatriot Hans Christer Holund and Swede Jens Burman. Johannes Kläbo finished in fourth place, Russian Alexander Bolschunow came in sixth place.
Bolshunov had started the race with an 18-second lead after his 15km victory on Saturday. However, the Russian let the pursuers catch up quickly and a large group formed. As a result, his compatriot Alexej Chervotkin fled, but was arrested again.
Weng wins ahead of Andersson
In the women’s race, Heidi Weng launched the decisive attack from a group of four in the 30km race just over 2km from the finish. Ebba Andersson approached the Norwegian again. But Weng saved a 4.5-second lead over the Swede at the end.
Third place went to Russia’s Julia Stupak, who won the 10km on Saturday. Overall World Cup winner Jessie Diggins had to settle for fourth place. In addition to the big one, the American could also wait for the small crystal ball for the Distance World Cup.
Therese Johaug was not at the beginning. The Norwegian dominator had to give up the World Cup final due to a swollen wrist.
Fähndrich in the top 10
Nadine Fähndrich showed a strong run. Lucerne, which was ranked 19th the day before, reached the goal in a large group of pursuers. With a difference of 1:47 minutes, he qualified in tenth place and Laurien van der Graaff in 52.
