After a good start, Dario Cologna cannot keep up with the fastest runners at 15km at Davos and is 14. Alexander Bolschunow wins.

Dario Cologna showed an attractive performance during 15 km in free technique in Davos. The four-time Olympic champion kept the pace very high at the start and came third after 8km. But on the last lap, the Graubünden one ran out of strength and lost a lot of time. In the end it was enough for 14th place, 1: 15.4 minutes behind.

Roman Furger (20th), Jason Rüesch (21st) and Candide Pralong (24th) completed the Swiss result with positions in the top 30.

Russian dominance

In the absence of the Norwegians, Swedes and Finns, who had given up racing at Davos due to the high risk of contagion from Corona, the Russian racers were superior to the rest of the nations.

The overall winner of the World Cup, Alexander Bolschunow, won by more than 30 seconds ahead of Andrei Melnichenko. Artem Maltsew (+39.5) completed the podium, Ivan Jakimuschkin finished fourth.

So it goes

The cross country circus now travels to Dresden, where next weekend an individual (Saturday) and a team sprint (Sunday) are on the program. Even then, the Scandinavian nations will not compete.
