Paris Saint-Germain had to compete at RB Leipzig without Neymar and Kylian Mbappé. The two superstars were injured. But the guests didn’t seem to mind, because they started like firefighters and were awarded 1-0 at 6 minutes:
Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano played a clearing attempt directly at Moise Kean’s feet. The young attacker approached Ángel Di María, who put the ball into the goal from 6 meters.
Di Maria misses the penalty – Leipzig equalize
Leipzig, who was urgently dependent on points, immediately tried to find an answer and should have struck the balance. But both Amadou Haidara and Angelino failed in the 8th minute.
On the other hand, Di Maria could have raised it to 2-0 after a quarter of an hour from the penalty spot, but goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi kept Leipzig in the match with a great reflex. At 39 minutes, the ball was twisting in Leipzig’s goal, but Di Maria’s goal didn’t count. During the pass, the Argentine was offside. So the locals stayed in the game and just before the break came the well-deserved 1: 1 draw from former Parisian Christopher Nkunku.
Paris gives in and loses
In the second half there was initially an entertaining round trip until the home team received a penalty after an hour: PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe rejected a Forsberg header with his arm. The Swede competed himself and confidently turned into a 2-1 lead for Leipzig.
Then PSG lost the thread and in the 69th minute also the locomotive of midfielder Idrissa Gueye, who left the field with yellow and red. When Kimpembe saw yellow-red in injury time, the game was decided. For Paris Saint-Germain it was CL’s second loss of this campaign, Leipzig jumped to second place in Group H thanks to a 2-1 win.
Basaksehir surprised against ManUnited
Meanwhile, Basaksehir Istanbul celebrated their first Champions League victory and cheated on Manchester United. The Turkish champions beat their favorite Premier League club 2-1 at home. Demba Ba gave the hosts the lead in the 13th minute. Edin Visca (40th minute) rose to 2-0 before Anthony Martial (43rd minute) scored for Manchester. Previously, the Istanbul team had lost 2-0 to RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain.
