Fire alarm in Winterthur ZH! Shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday, a report came in that there was a fire in a two-family home. “The emergency services immediately withdrew and began to extinguish the fire,” the Zurich canton police wrote in a message.
A 61-year-old man was found in the garden of the property who had suffered burns. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance and is in critical condition. For an 84-year-old woman on the property’s first floor, any help came too late – she succumbed to her injuries on the spot. A dog also died in the fire. As police spokeswoman Carmen Surber told BLICK, the injured person is the son of the deceased.
Former employees mourn the elderly
VIEW Research Shows: The deceased is Brigitte W. († 84). For 15 years he ran Café Wülflingen, just under two kilometers from the scene of the fire. The owner remembers her well: «In 1968 Brigitte was my first tenant. He did his job very well, business was going well. “
In 1980, W.’s husband died. “On weekends I sometimes helped her at coffee. But after his death she ran it alone, ”says the owner.
Brigitte W. was also well remembered by a longtime employee. His death shocked her: “She was the best boss I’ve ever had,” the employee tells BLICK.
After her career at Café Wülflingen, Brigitte W. moved to the outdoor pool restaurant in Wülflingen. There he worked until he retired. He continues to be very successful, as his colleagues confirm.
Several hundred thousand francs damages
