An exclusive survey shows: amid the pandemic crisis, the largest employers increased the number of jobs. The trend should continue into the new year.
Despite the biggest downturn in the economy since the oil crisis in the 1970s, 2020 was surprisingly light for Swiss employees and employers. The official unemployment rate rose from 2.6 to 3.3 percent, the best internationally comparable unemployment rate from 3.9 to 5.3 percent.
Now a survey by SonntagsZeitung shows: Among the largest Swiss employers, more companies cut jobs than cut them. The bottom line was that they created more jobs than were destroyed.
