Europe’s largest tourism group, Tui, is creating an alternative to working from home in colder regions of Europe during the coronavirus crisis. In Robinson’s premium brand clubs, family rooms currently in low demand are being converted into home offices with desks, office chairs, and high-speed Internet.
The company announced this on Tuesday. “The first bookings have already been made,” Robinson Club managing director Bernd Mäser told German “Funke Mediengruppe” newspapers on Tuesday. “Currently it can be booked at the Robinson Club Quinta da Ria in Portugal. The possibility will come soon in our Robinson Club Jandia Playa (Fuerteventura), Nobilis (Turkey) and Cala Serena (Mallorca) ”, comments a VIEW spokesperson.
Without full utilization
Clubs in countries with currently very low levels of coronavirus infection, such as the Portuguese Algarve, would start, he said. The Fuerteventura and Turkey plants will follow. Like all companies in the sector, Tui is also severely affected by the coronavirus crisis.
However, the use of Robinson clubs in regions without travel advisories is good. “Unlike previous years, there is not full capacity. But the situation is financially satisfactory, ”Mäser continued. As soon as a travel warning is removed, reservations will be retrieved at very short notice.
Working long-term guests
The offer is primarily aimed at long-term working guests who work on the go and at the same time want to take advantage of the pleasant holiday atmosphere. Prices start at 75 francs per person per night in a double room, individual services can be booked for a fee.
“Of course this can also be booked for just one week. For example: from 16 to 21 November 2020, five nights in a spacious family room with enough space to work, including half board and a flight from Zurich, costs from CHF 879 per person, ”says the spokeswoman.
