Germany still remembers with a shudder the case of the “cannibal of Rotenburg”, Armin Meiwes. In 2001 he killed an internet acquaintance, massacred him and ate body parts. Now there is a case in Berlin with astonishing parallels.
Stefan T. * († 44) does not return to his shared apartment from a date with a stranger one night in early September. After a while, his roommates alert the police, who put up a search notice, because Stefan T. also disappeared 3 weeks later.
Bones found in the park
Now it is clear: his acquaintance on the Internet was math teacher Stefan R. (41), and now he has been arrested by the murder squad. The terrible suspicion: he could have killed and eaten his victim. Because at the beginning of November passersby had found a bone in a leg in a park. Two dogs independently led investigators to the suspect’s home.
A police officer told “Bild”: “Based on the bone that was found, which was completely meatless, and further evidence, we strongly suspect that Stefan T. was the victim of a cannibal.” According to the newspaper, investigators found a wheelbarrow in the math teacher’s basement and an empty fridge in the study.
I was interested in cannibalism
Police also secured chat logs on a gay platform, where Stefan T. and Stefan R. had likely met. Scary: According to internet searches, Stefan R. was apparently interested in cannibalism. According to “Bild”, he searched the web for information on whether it was possible to cut off his penis and stay alive.
At the request of the Berlin prosecutor’s office, an investigating judge at the Tiergarten district court has just issued an arrest warrant for sexual homicide on low grounds. The suspect is in custody. Stefan R. has so far declined to comment. (neo)
