  • Israel and two Arab states yesterday sealed the establishment of diplomatic relations.
  • At the same time as the Israeli prime minister’s speech, Palestinian militants fired rockets at Israel.
  • In retaliation, Israel has now attacked several targets of the ruling Hamas in Gaza.
  • The Palestinians feel betrayed by the two Arab states.

In the morning, the Israeli air force attacked targets owned by Hamas, which ruled the Gaza Strip. “About ten terrorist targets were hit, including a weapons and explosives workshop and a military facility that is used by the Hamas terrorist organization for rocket training and exercises,” an army statement said.

Previously, 13 rockets had been fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip. Eight of them were intercepted by the missile defense. Just two weeks ago, the Palestinian Islamist organization Hamas, following the mediation of Qatar, announced a ceasefire with Israel.

In the United States there is a celebration, in Gaza there are shootings

The rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip began Tuesday night when Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain sealed their rapprochement in a ceremony outside the White House in Washington. The rocket alarm went off at the end of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech.

Hundreds of people had previously demonstrated against the rapprochement between the Arab countries and Israel in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The Palestinians feel betrayed by the actions of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Hamas leader Ismail Radwan spoke on Tuesday of a “black day in the history of the Emirates and Bahrain, which signed a shameful agreement with the occupying power under the auspices of the United States.”

The Arab states have so far followed the approach of making the resolution of the conflict with the Palestinians a condition for normalizing relations with Israel. This approach has changed in the case of some Arab states, especially in the Gulf region, because they feel threatened by Iran.

With the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, there are now four Arab countries that recognize Israel.
