US President Donald Trump has announced the first appearances in the election campaign since his Covid-19 disease over the weekend. He wanted to go to Florida on Saturday and Pennsylvania on Sunday, Trump said in a telephone interview with Fox News. His personal physician previously announced that the president had completed the Covid treatment prescribed for him and that he was allowed to attend public appointments again on Saturday.
Trump also restricted the fact that events had yet to be staged. Florida and Pennsylvania are important states for the November 3 presidential election, with Trump lagging behind in the polls. While the White House has been emphasizing for days that Trump no longer has any symptoms of illness, he had to pause twice in the middle of a sentence in the 20-minute interview due to problems with his voice and cough.
Trump: “I don’t think it’s contagious”
It should be tested again on Friday, Trump said after initially ignoring TV host Sean Hannity’s question about it twice. Trump’s personal physician, Sean Conley, previously provided only vague information on why the president was allowed to go public again. Next Saturday will be the 10th day after Trump tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday of last week, Conley wrote in a health update. “I hope the president returns safely to public meetings at this time.” Conley also referred to “the curve in advanced diagnosis.”

In general, ten days is considered to be the time after which corona patients are no longer contagious. However, experts note that this applies mostly to mild cases and that the period can vary in individual cases and depending on the treatment. “I don’t think it’s contagious,” Trump said this morning in a first telephone interview with Fox.
The President’s Health Values
Trump returned to the White House Monday night after three nights in the hospital. They had treated him with an experimental antibody agent and steroids, among other things. “In general, he responded very well to treatment,” said the personal physician. There is no evidence that the disease is progressing.
Conley said Trump’s pulse was 69 beats per minute Thursday afternoon and his blood oxygen saturation was 96 to 98 percent. This is an important value for corona patients because the virus can attack the lungs. Trump received supplemental oxygen last week after the saturation level dropped below 94 percent.
It got calmer for Trump
Conley also announced that the president takes 15 to 17 breaths per minute and has a blood pressure of 127 to 81. However, he did not provide information on Trump’s temperature. More recently, it had only been said that Trump was fever-free again, and Conley does not reveal how high the fever was last week. The White House also declines to say when Trump last had a negative corona test. The personal physician has not asked reporters any further questions since Trump left the clinic.
You haven’t seen Trump much since then. The president only posted three short videos on Twitter. In it, he called his illness “God’s blessing” because it led him to discover antibody therapy as a “cure.”
Dispute over the virtual debate
Trump’s campaign team on Thursday demanded that his second television debate with Biden take place next Thursday, as originally planned, with both candidates present. For this, the organizing committee of the debates should reverse its decision to carry out the duel online.
Trump had declared that he would not participate in an online debate, arguing that Biden could read the responses on the screen. The president is far behind Biden in national polls. The gap widened after Trump’s aggressive appearance in the first debate last week and his corona infection.
The commission announced Thursday morning that the debate would take place over the internet rather than with Trump and Biden in Miami. After Trump canceled his participation, the ABC television station scheduled Biden’s Question Time with voters for that day.
