Donald Trump is becoming a stinging legend
The president-elect’s behavior is reminiscent of a mad king. But unfortunately the following applies: if it is also absurd, there is still a method.
Trump’s team had to raise $ 3 million to get a new vote count in the state of Wisconsin. Now the result of this count is available: Joe Biden has won 87 votes. Wisconsin, therefore, has officially confirmed the Democrat’s victory.
Trump isn’t just embarrassed in the Midwest. Republican Gov. Doug Doucey, a close Trump ally, also announced Biden’s victory in Arizona. All the swing states have sealed Trump’s defeat.
One should think that the president would now throw in the towel. Not even close. Trump said in an interview with Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo on Sunday that he would use “125 percent of his energy” to challenge the election result.

This should not be understood as an empty threat. His fans have donated around $ 170 million so he can continue his fight against the windmills.
In this fight, Trump will no longer walk away from anything. Recently, he has even accused the FBI and the Department of Justice, with his corrupt slave Attorney General William Barr, of conspiring against him. In addition, he now wants to appeal to the Supreme Court, although he himself doubts that the higher magistrates will listen to him.
Objectively speaking, Trump’s situation has turned desperate. In 34 court cases, the judges only found him correct in a unique and insignificant secondary aspect. Otherwise, their complaints have been dismissed en masse, sometimes accompanied by damning comments from the judges responsible.
Therefore, the half-sensible lawyers have resigned from their mandate. The only one who still believes in Trump’s cause is his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani. His appearances, however, are so ridiculous, even bizarre, that only late-night comedians can enjoy and do so widely.

Meanwhile, Trump is confronting the suspected traitors personally and via Twitter. It focused primarily on Brian Kemp, the Governor of Georgia, and his secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger. This is surprising in the sense that they are both not only members of the Grand Old Party, but have also been noted as die-hard Trump fans thus far.
But even the Kemp / Raffensperger duo can no longer change the outcome of the elections in Georgia. Trump has recently been “embarrassed” that he supported Kemp in his 2018 gubernatorial election. He doesn’t want to see why the “hapless” Kemp doesn’t just annul his “stubborn Secretary of State.”
The Republican race leadership is watching Georgia’s setbacks with mounting panic. If Republicans want to win both Senate seats in this state, they must have Trump’s support. Only he can make sure the bases go to the polls.
By repeatedly speaking about the “sham elections,” the president achieved the exact opposite. “You can’t permanently declare that the system has been rigged and at the same time ask people to elect the two Republican senators,” complains Eric Johnson, an adviser to Republican candidate Kelly Loeffler.

So how do you explain Trump’s irrational behavior? “Either the president suffers from delusional beliefs or he deliberately wants to destroy democracy to deny that he is a loser,” the Washington Post said in an editorial comment.
A lot speaks in favor of the second variant, and that’s where the fun definitely ends. The Washington Post fears:
“If Mr. Trump can convince millions of Americans that the electoral system is corrupt, then he could usher in an era of dangerous instability; a future candidate could annul a fair result in a tight election taking advantage of the doubts that the president now sowed. “
In a guest article in the “New York Times”, “Zeit” editor Jochen Bittner even goes one step further. Compare Trump’s approach to the stinging legend that emerged after the defeat of the Germans in World War I. And it came like this:
After four years of senseless warfare, German soldiers refused to fight any further. They went on strike or deserted and forced the high command to surrender.
However, reactionary German circles refused to accept defeat. “Undefeated on the field” was his motto. The blame for the defeat fell on the traitors in their own ranks, mainly Social Democrats and Jews.
The thesis of treason had no factual basis. Still, he soon began to develop a life of his own. Bittner writes:
«She (the poignant legend) did not weaken after 1918: in the face of humiliation and rejection or the inability to accept the truth, many Germans joined in a disastrous deception: the nation was betrayed, but honor and greatness were never they lost. And those who refused to fulfill their national duty, the leftists and the self-elected representatives of the republic, could never be guardians of the country. “
The legend of the stabbing was a central element of Nazi propaganda. Without wanting to compare Trump to Hitler, the parallels between his behavior and that of the Nazis in the Weimar Republic are obvious. Bittner refers to a deeply divided American society, like the German one at the time, and states:
“In a landscape of social fragmentation, Mr. Trump’s fact-free accusations can wreak havoc. According to YouGov, 88 percent of Trump voters, a staggering number, are convinced that the election result is not legal. This is the seed of the myth that betrayal and injustice are on the rise. “
From this point of view, it is not enough to mock Trump or simply compare his behavior to a “mad king.” Let’s not forget: it received over 70 million votes, huge potential for a new edition of the stabbing legend.
