  • Almost two months before the US presidential election, the number of attacks by foreign hackers against election campaign equipment is increasing.
  • Attackers with ties to Russia, China and Iran are trying to spy on people close to President Donald Trump and his Democratic rival Joe Biden.
  • This comes from an expert report from the software company Microsoft.

The spying attacks would be more intense the closer the election date approaches, said Microsoft’s vice president of customer security Tom Burt. He referred, for example, to a group of Russian hackers who wanted to influence the 2016 presidential elections.

Last year he tried to break into accounts of political advisers to Democrats and Republicans, as well as think tanks and think tanks. Burt didn’t mention any names.

Hitherto unsuccessful attacks

Chinese efforts to compromise a Biden confidant and an Iranian scouting attack on Trump’s election campaign team were unsuccessful. The manager of Microsoft did not provide any information about the outcome of the hacker attacks of Russian origin.

No comments were received from official representatives of the three countries mentioned. Campaign teams Bidens and Trumps said they were aware of the spying attempts.
