Health directors in central Switzerland are concerned. Central Switzerland is much more affected by the corona virus than in the first wave. Therefore, the cantons of central Switzerland are calling for drastic measures to be taken quickly to contain the virus.
(zfo) “The current situation makes it necessary to order significantly stricter measures at the federal level. Otherwise, there is a risk of a breakdown in contact tracing and an overload of the health system, ”wrote the Health Directors of Central Switzerland (ZGDK) in a message on Saturday.
The ZGDK calls on the Federal Council to quickly take effective measures. Specifically, they want a maximum of 30 people to be admitted to the events. For private events with family or friends, the ZGDK requires a limit of 10 people. “Especially on private occasions there is a remarkably high number of infections, because the distance is often not kept there”, explains ZGDK president Martin Pfister (Zug). “That is why strict measures are indicated there as well.”
Stricter rules are also needed in amateur sports. Choir and concert rehearsals must be completely prohibited; Dance halls and clubs will also be closed.
The ZGDK also advocates for a significant expansion of the mask requirement, for example in educational institutions or at work, if the distance cannot be maintained. The canton of Lucerne already presented one on Saturday.
If uniform and comprehensive measures are not taken at the federal level, the Health Directors of Central Switzerland will apply to the respective cantonal governments for appropriate measures. The aim is to achieve as uniform an application as possible in central Switzerland, although cantonal differences are allowed depending on the epidemiological situation. Since every day counts in the fight against the virus, the cantons must continue to take stricter measures at different speeds.
