Several vehicles stopped briefly on the A1 motorway between Oftringen and the Kölliken-Süd rest area on Saturday night, blocking all traffic in the direction of Zurich. The police immediately withdrew the driver’s licenses of the responsible drivers.

The convoy with more than ten vehicles was likely heading to a wedding, according to a message from the Aargau cantonal police on Sunday. The reason for the maneuver is unknown.

On Saturday night at 6 pm, the cantonal emergency call center received several reports about the convoy of vehicles. The vehicles caused a traffic jam due to their driving style.

Report to the prosecution

The police then stopped the convoy of vehicles at the Lenzburg rest area. Initial investigations revealed that two 25-year-old drivers and one 23-year-old blocked both lanes and the shoulder at the same time, briefly braking their vehicles to a stop.

All three people had their driving licenses withdrawn at the scene for the traffic office to attend to. In addition, they are reported to the responsible prosecutor.
